In January 2019, I attended a Carol McManus directed dramatic reading of Lee Roscoe's play HERE!
This was on the main stage of Cotuit Center for the Arts. The single performance by 1 women, and 7 men actors, was riveting as we see the present through the eyes of 8 living persons who know and benefit from the history of the rise of the Third Reich!
The Wehrmacht Republic or "defence force" were the unified armed forces of Nazi Germany from 1935 to 1946. It consisted of the Heer (army), the Kriegsmarine (navy) and the Luftwaffe (air force).
With the longest Government Shutdown, Our Homeland Security to get a border wall feels somewhat prescient of Lee's words! Q&A followed with actors, director and playwright!
Who would believe that this could happen again HERE!
After the play I felt numb and sick to think that past many book and playwrights, from the past and have revealed presciently, what we see hear, feel on stage what is happening HERE!
"Do not go gentle into that good night"!
Thought provoking evening which reminded me of Our Town for the awakened and still living! Do we have time to rage against tyrants? You know the answer!
Lee Roscoe's well worked play HERE! -inspired us to consider another lower cape production by invitation only, of the next live dramatic reading by eight men and one women dramatic reading.
When: Wednesday, February 19th at the Cape Cod Community Media Studios- Time? TBA
Where:
17 Shad Hole Rd. Dennis Port, MA 02639
"HERE! is part satire, part serious. It explores what happens when hyperbole becomes reality and Amerikka turns fascist. " Inspired by the works of Sinclair Lewis!
